Vikas Kanungo

Mr. Vikas Kanungo He has more than 27 years of experience in providing technical and advisory services to Governments, Corporates and multiple UN agencies in formulating digital strategies, identifying best practices solutions and devising capacity building programs for effective public service delivery. He has played a key role in design and deployment of more than 100 large e-governance, m-Governance and Smart City projects on behalf of the World Bank, Government of India, UNDP, FAO, UNESCO and multiple civil society organizations. Example of some of the projects he has contributed to include:

  • Supporting Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India in formulating National Policy Framework for Mobile Governance as Advisor.
  • Support to Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) in developing national curriculum for capacity building of government officers for Digital India Program implementation
  • Supporting Conceptualization and Development of Integrated Digital Platforms for Agriculture, Urban and Education Global Practices of the World Bank
  • Supporting conceptualization of data based governance and digital economy projects as a national consultant with FAO
  • Contribute to Development of digital strategy and implementation plan for national services portal of India to enhance online services availability as a national consulant
  • Vikas Kanungo has a vast experience of handling complex infrastructure projects for multilateral agencies like the World Bank, FAO, UNDP, ADB, The Asia Foundation, Danish Technological Institute and UNSCO. Prior to working as a consultant with multiple governments and development agencies, Mr. Vikas has been a successful ntrepreneur and editor of a couple of magazines on e-Governance and development.

    He has authored more than a dozen papers on e-Governance/ Smart cities and is co-author of the book “Digital Divides: New Challenges and opportunities of e-Inclusion” published by CRC Press in 2015. His report titled “India – Journey from Knowledge Economy to Inclusive Information Society “was released by Indian government during WSIS Summit in Geneva as action taken report by India on MDGs realization.
