Dr. Shashank Ojha

Dr. Shashank Ojha has over 35 years of experience in the Government Advisory and Development Sector. His expertise lies in the domains of project finance, development policy & reforms, and digital transformation. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (School of Management, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand) and is a Chartered Accountant from ICAI. Before his retirement from the World Bank in June 2021, he led the India Team of the Digital Development Global Practice. He was also the Team Leader of the World Bank team for Digital India/ National e-Governance Program (NeGP) initiative. Over the 22 years with the World Bank, he has been involved in policy design, project development, and advisory support to 50+ national/ sub-national projects in South Asia, East Asia and the Middle East regions. Some examples of his projects include:

  • Co-Team Leader of the World Bank team for Digital India/ National e-Governance Program (NeGP) initiative.
  • Digitization of state-wide municipalities in the state of Andhra Pradesh (110 Municipalities) and in Tamil Nadu (136 municipalities);
  • Led the studies on India’s E-Readiness for central ministries and states and also the team leader for the India Gateway Project.
  • Led the digitization under the National Agriculture Innovation Projects that included connecting all agriculture research institutes on knowledge network.
  • Led state-wide digitization of projects in key development sector e.g. Health, Water Resources, Human Resources, Transport, E-Services etc.
  • Led the implementation of SAP in the South Asia countries within the World Bank.
  • He has worked in various capacities in the World Bank, in the industry and in the management consulting domains. Prior to joining the development sector, he worked in multiple private sector roles as a Senior Management Consultant with Ernst & Young (Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia offices) and as General Manager – Corporate Finance with National Panasonic India / Matsushita Group, Japan.
